Salt Pier is situated in the South and is one of Bonaire’s finest dive sites. Large schools of fish, such as barracudas and tarpons, gather under the platform in the shadows created by the salt terminal overhead. Salt Pier is also a nice dive site for photographers, the prettiest macro and wide-angle shots are made at Salt Pier. Easy entry for new divers. The pillars here are fully encrusted with sponges and corals. Depth 15-50 feet (5-15 meters)

FEATURED DIVE SITES, Iron Diver

Hilma Hooker & Salt Pier.

Hilma Hooker has been used as a drug ship. Police and customs took out twelve tons of marijuana hidden the a ship’s hull. The ship was deliberately sunken, to be used as a dive wreck. This internationally known wreck dive is located near the beginning of the double reef system. The Top of the ship lies at 60 feet, the mast at 99. Shore divers will find the shallows full of fish. Boat divers will be limited in their bottom time due to the depth. This is a good place to see how corals have developed on an artificial site that was created with the sinking of the ship in 1984. It gives an idea of how long hard corals might take to recover from damage due to storms. Depth 25-100 feet (8-30 meters).

“What makes it most special though is the welcoming friendliness of the staff. They take their job very serious and take extra time showing or explaining things and upcoming questions. Or just to have a little chat after an exiting day of diving.

Thanks a lot for this amazing experience!”

Mark Lee

“We’ve just completed our PADI Wreck Diving course with them. Exceptional instructors and all of the staff are friendly and accommodating. Safety is a very high priority and the whole experience from planning our dives to talking them through afterwards was great. Highly recommended!”

Robert Smith

“It has been our third dive trip to Bonaire, we were looking to do something different and explore new dive sites, especially those that are not marked on the official map. It was a success! I will never forget our Playa Frans dive, it was magical.”
