Invasive Lionfish are disastrously out-breeding, out-living, out-eating and out-competing every other native fish in the Western Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. If left unchecked Lionfish will ultimately cause the destruction of the reefs, native fish stocks and the livelihoods of everyone that depend upon them.

At 4 Wheel Diving we are on a mission to become the most active Lionfish hunters on the island. This activity is our main resource, to help protect the reefs of Bonaire. Through our educational and outreach activities, we inform the general public needs in order to fully understand that the Lionfish invasion is TRULY a plague unlike we have ever witnessed in human history.

We also encourage our divers to taste them! In fact, eating Lionfish is healthier than eating snapper or grouper because Lionfish have a higher concentration of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, higher than snapper and grouper, as well as tilapia, bluefin tuna, dorado, wahoo, and other table fish commonly served in restaurants. Lionfish are also very low in heavy metals like mercury and lead.
